About the Artist

Kevin Kelpe is an artist and designer living in the Wasatch Mountains of Northern Utah. His work is visually informed by his background in modern dance and attempts a form of non-narrative storytelling. It is often tense and gestural, with layers of memory painted over, repeatedly. His largest paintings are often in-process for several years; he commonly removes paint with an orbital sander so it can be re-applied, a history re-told, more favorably.
His sculpture and installation work is focused on the appreciation and transformation of found objects, trash, and common household fasteners. His current work (not as depressing as it sounds) explores societal collapse, infestation, decay, and the built environment.
Kevin is an avid mountain biker and backcountry skier. He studied graphic design at Full Sail University and later completed a bachelor's degree in economics at the University of Idaho. He is a lifelong student of economics and philosophy. He's catdad to hairless littermate brothers. 🐈‍⬛🐈
